In the last post, we shared with you some knowledge about how much a website costs.

It was stated that it really depends on the customer’s needs. And so the customer, who wants to invest in a business card of their company – a website, is looking for a suitable candidate for this order. And here it turns out that a website is a broad concept, that there are several types of them. Questions arise whether it should be a one page or a landing page? Or maybe a blog or a store as well?

We will write a bit about a few examples of types of websites. To make it easier for you to match your needs to what the market offers, and thus choose the best option for your purpose 😉

In fact, there are many different types and categories of websites, which differ from each other in functionality, appearance, content, management and optimization.

Business card website (one page)

A business card website, also called a one-page or one-page website, is the simplest and cheapest type of website, which consists of one page, on which there are basic information about the company, person, product, service, event or other purpose of the website. A business card website serves a representative and informational function, and its main goal is to present itself to potential customers, partners or employers.

A business card website is ideal for small businesses, freelancers, artists, craftsmen, event organizers and other people who do not need advanced functionality on their website, such as an online store, blog, booking system, etc. A business card website is easy and quick to create and maintain, and also cheap to buy a domain and hosting.

Landing Page

Landing Page is a type of website that aims to encourage visitors to take a specific action, such as signing up for a newsletter, downloading an e-book, buying a product or service. Landing Page is often used in marketing campaigns to increase conversion and acquire potential customers. Landing Page differs from the home page in that it focuses on one goal and does not have unnecessary elements that could distract attention. The most important element of Landing Page is the call to action button (CTA), which prompts to perform the desired action.

Company website

This is a more complex and advanced type of website, which consists of many subpages and sections, on which there are detailed information about the company, its offer, values, mission, vision, teams, projects, clients, partners, news, blogs, etc. The company website performs several functions: representative, informational, promotional and sales. You can say that its main goal is to convince visitors to use the services or products of a given company.

A company website is an ideal solution for medium and large companies that want to present their activity, competencies, experience and achievements in a professional and attractive way. A company website requires more work and costs in creating and maintaining, therefore its cost is higher.

Blog

The main purpose of a blog is to publish content. These can be regular posts on topics related to interests, experience or knowledge. Many companies use blogs as a form of digital marketing, to improve their results in search engines (SEO) through regular posts. What should be in a blog is categorizing and tagging content. A blog can be connected with social media accounts/profiles – this makes the posts appear immediately in the form of posts on Facebook, for example.

Online store

It enables online sales of products, so it is key for companies that offer their customers convenient and available shopping 24/7. An online store has a complex structure, it should have a clear product catalog with divisions into categories and subcategories, a shopping cart and transaction processes. An important functionality is synchronization with e-payments, so that customers can pay for their orders in a fast and secure way.

An online store is a perfect solution for companies that sell physical or digital goods, such as clothing, books, music, software, etc. An online store requires a lot of work and costs in creating and maintaining, as well as complying with legal and tax regulations. Therefore, its cost is higher than other types of websites.

Portal for registered users

A portal for registered users is a website where access to content or functions is limited to people who have logged in. Such a portal usually offers a personalized user experience, providing access to additional features such as profiles, social interactions, personalized settings and access to content, available only to registered users. Examples: social networking sites, educational platforms or portals with content tailored to a specific user profile.

Portfolio page

This is a website where an author presents his or her works, projects, skills or achievements. Portfolio sites can be used by artists, designers, writers, programmers, or other professionals to present their work to potential clients, employers, or other interested individuals. They usually contain photo galleries, project descriptions, and information about the author.
